- Refining techniques and forms
- Trimming
- Making mugs with handles
- Introduction to hand-building techniques, including coiling, pinching & slab building
What to Expect
This course builds on the skills developed in the 5-Day Wheel Throwing Foundation, giving you more time to practise, refine your techniques, and improve the consistency of your forms.
Along with advancing your wheel-throwing skills, you will learn trimming, an essential stage in finishing wheel-thrown pottery. You will also learn to make mugs with handles and be introduced to fundamental hand-building techniques, including coiling, pinching, and slab building, allowing you to explore different approaches to working with clay.
As part of our teaching methodology, most of the pieces you create will be cut open to assess wall thickness and provide constructive feedback. The emphasis is on developing strong technical skills, understanding form, and building confidence through practice rather than producing a fixed number of finished pieces.

If you would like us to glaze and fire your wheel-thrown pieces, the charge is INR 1,000 per piece. The glazing and firing process takes approximately 30–40 days.
Plates are not included in the glaze firing service for these programmes.
Once your pieces are ready, you are welcome to collect them from the studio. Please send us a WhatsApp message before your visit so we can have your work ready for collection.
We kindly request that all finished pieces be collected within three months, after which any unclaimed work will be donated to children from the surrounding village.
Hand-Built Pieces – 5-Day Wheel Throwing Immersion
Please note that we do not offer glaze firing for hand-built pieces made during the 5-Day Wheel Throwing Immersion.
We can, however, offer high-fire bisque firing at an additional charge of INR 300–1,200 per piece, depending on the size of the piece.

We offer delivery of student pieces within India only.
For wheel-thrown pieces, delivery is available for an additional INR 300 per piece. You can expect to receive your glazed pieces within 40–50 days from the date of your course.

Studio Guidelines
To ensure a safe, respectful, and enjoyable learning environment, we request all participants to follow these studio guidelines:
- You will be taught the correct wedging technique and are expected to wedge your own clay at the beginning of each session.
- Please clean your wheel, tools, and workstation before leaving the studio, ensuring the space is ready for the next participant.
- Be respectful and considerate of others, and observe the etiquette of working in a shared studio environment.
- Keep your fingernails short and neatly trimmed, as this is essential for comfortable and effective wheel throwing.
- Wear comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting clay on.
- Although we offer flexibility in scheduling based on studio availability, we recommend completing all ten sessions within four weeks, as each class builds upon the techniques learned in the previous session.
Teaching Methodology
Our teaching approach is rooted in strong fundamentals, consistent practice, and thoughtful feedback. Each course combines demonstrations, guided instruction, and structured self-practice, with hands-on learning at its core.
Learning videos are shared to help reinforce techniques beyond the studio.
A key part of our methodology is dissecting most of the pieces you make to examine wall thickness, understand form, and receive detailed feedback. This process allows you to identify mistakes, make corrections, and build technical confidence through repetition and refinement.
Pottery is a slow craft that requires patience and regular practice. While a 3-10 day course will not make you a professional potter, it will equip you with the essential skills, techniques, and understanding needed to build a strong foundation and continue your pottery journey with confidence.
We Use

- Terracotta clay for hand-building sessions, with bisque firing at Cone 06. Student hand-built pieces are not glaze fired.
