FAQs
How is each piece made?
Each NISO ceramic piece is made by hand at our studio in South Goa, without the use of moulds. Pieces featuring artwork are also painted by hand, without the use of stencils.
Each piece goes through a carefully considered process of throwing, trimming, slow drying, bisque firing, sanding, washing, waxing, glazing and final glaze firing.
The entire process takes approximately one month for a single piece, allowing us to give each ceramic the time and care it needs.
Are the pieces food-safe and suitable for everyday use?
Yes. Our glazes are lead-free and food-safe, making our ceramics suitable for everyday use.
Our ceramic pieces are also oven-safe, microwave-safe and dishwasher-safe.
For detailed care instructions, please visit our Care Instructions page.
How and when can I purchase NISO pieces?
Our online store is updated with new collections and small-batch releases as they become available.
As we work in small batches, pieces are available in limited quantities and some designs may not be restocked.
Follow us on @houseofniso and sign up for our mailing list to be the first to know about new collections, shop updates and studio news.
Do you have a physical store?
Yes. You can visit us at our studio in Benaulim Village, South Goa, where you can browse and shop our handcrafted ceramic pieces.
We'd love to welcome you to the studio.
Do you offer customisation?
We do not offer individual customisation, as we like to retain our artistic freedom and design language.
For bulk orders from cafés, restaurants, hotels and other businesses, we can work with clients on dimensions and quantities while retaining the NISO design language. You can browse our existing designs and collections on our website as a starting point.
Can I place a bulk order for my café, restaurant or for gifting and events?
Yes. We accept bulk orders for cafés, restaurants, hotels, gifting and events.
Please write to us at pottery@houseofniso.com with details of your requirements. Timelines and pricing will vary depending on the quantity and collection selected.
What is the lead time for a bulk order?
Depending on the quantity and product requirements, we will provide a tentative timeline before confirming your order.
Typically, a bulk order may take 6–10 weeks to be ready. This timeline can vary depending on the quantity, product requirements and our existing production schedule.
The expected timeline will be discussed and confirmed with you before we finalise the order.
How are payments for bulk orders made?
Once the order has been finalised and scheduled, a 50% advance payment is required before we begin production.
The remaining 50% balance is payable before dispatch.
